The Porto empire lamp shade provides a generous 30cm spread with a surface of hand-marbled paper crafted through a traditional process involving paints and oils dropped onto thickened water. The mixture is raked and stretched into patterns before each sheet is carefully laid on top, imprinted, and dried, ensuring no two pieces are alike. The gold and white colouring produces a rich, shimmering finish with inherent variation across the marbled surface. Due to the smaller surface area required for this technique, the shade is constructed with two seams.
