The 'Jumping through a Wreath' portrait by Barbara Kuebel combines oil stick, oil colour, and wax on canvas in an abstract expressionist figurative style. Created by Austrian artist Barbara Kuebel, whose work has been exhibited extensively across Europe and the US, the piece draws inspiration from awkward social interactions rendered through expressive mark-making. The layered application of oil and wax gives the surface a rich, tactile depth characteristic of Kuebel's hand-carved woodwork aesthetic.
An original portrait created using oil stick, oil colour and wax on canvas. Based in Daphne, Alabama, Austrian artist Barbara Kuebel has shown her work extensively throughout Europe and the US.
