The chair offers a striking baroque form with continuous hand-painted multi-coloured dots applied using the pointillism technique. Its industrial rotational-moulded construction shapes weatherproof polyethylene into an ornate design that suits versatile placement. The romantic silhouette provides classical appeal, while the durable polyethylene material ensures reliable performance in both indoor and outdoor settings.
Based on Alessandro Mendini's 'Poltrona di Proust' chair, designed in 1978, Magis' 2011 'Proust' chair is the same designer's contemporary update on the original. The first incarnation of the seat, which is characterised by continuous hand painted multi-coloured dots applied using the pointillism technique, is relived in this industrial rotational-moulded piece, where weatherproof polyethylene is shaped into a romantic, baroque chair that is suited to both indoor and outdoor use.
