The Archetoys Police Car combines design and playfulness through its simplified form and bold use of colour. Conceived by Dutch designer Floris Hovers for Magis, the piece uses restrained shape and material to explore the relationship between craftsmanship and mass production. Its graphic detailing and solid blue finish reference industrial design while retaining the tactile appeal of a handcrafted object.
Children and adults alike will appreciate Magis' Archetoys, a collection that is in equal parts a design project and an exploration of our collective memory. Conceived by Dutch designer Floris Hovers, the series uses the simplicity of shape, colour and material to actively examine the links between work and play, analysis and intuition, craftsmanship and mass-production. This blue police car presents a number of aspects to contemplate, including personal memories, graphics, industrial design, the discovery — and rediscovery — of sensation and, of course, the pleasures of play.
