The decorative bowl combines sculptural appeal with playful functionality through its gravity-defying design. Its weighted construction allows the bowl to wobble and sway when touched, always returning to its stable position. The matte black Marquina marble provides substantial heft and striking visual contrast, while the tilting mechanism adds an interactive element to any display.
Designed by Lucas Pouly for Marsotto Edizioni, the 'Gravita' bowls are reminiscent of tilting dolls with their play on shape and balance. Like roly-poly dolls, when the bowls are nudged they wobble and sway, and the force of gravity acts on the center of gravity to produce a slight torque. The weightiness of the matte black Marquina marble used here always causes this large bowl to return to its normal position from which its natural beauty can be observed.
