Sculptural Glass Vase - Amethyst, Murano Glass

The sculptural vase combines contemporary design with traditional Murano glass craftsmanship in a striking amethyst hue. Its curved silhouette creates visual interest while the transparent glass construction allows light to enhance the color depth. The paste-colored finish adds subtle texture to the smooth surface, and the substantial glass body provides stability for floral arrangements.

Designed by Marc Newson in the 90s, the original incarnation of the 'Newson Vase' was produced by Cappellini in ceramic. This updated version of the sculptural vessel takes the same silhouette — inspired by the sinuous form of the 'Orgone' lounge chair, also by Newson — and applies it to a paste-coloured transparent Murano glass body. The result is a spectacular and instantly recognisable piece, where the curved shape of the design is accentuated by a modernised palette, whilst maintaining Newson's vision.
