The Burnt Carpet Freedom rug features a phrase by Barack Obama — 'Freedom is more powerful than fear' — seared directly into the surface using heat and fire. Part of designer Loredana Longo's 'Burnt Carpet' series, the technique burns text into the textile, creating a permanent, tactile impression rather than a printed or woven motif. The multicolored ground provides a vivid contrast to the scorched lettering, reinforcing the visual weight of the inscription.
Deemed a sacred space for Eastern populations and symbol of luxury and prestige in the West, the carpet is a combined point of creativity and conceptual depth. Designer Loredana Longo explores this idea further in the 'Burnt Carpet' series for Seletti, where phrases from world leaders of the past and present are seared into the surface using heat and fire. On the multicolored 'Burnt Carpet, Freedom', a quote from Barack Obama — 'Freedom is more powerful than fear' — is emblazoned across the surface for a lasting impact and moment of reflection.
