The Burnt Carpet Diversity rug features heat and fire-seared text across its surface, a technique developed by designer Loredana Longo for the Seletti Burnt Carpet series. The quote from Patrick Henry — 'Diversity is our strength' — is burned directly into the textile, creating a permanent, tactile impression rather than a printed or woven motif. This process leaves visible scorched markings that contrast with the multicolored base, giving the piece a raw, uneven texture distinct from conventional rug construction.
Deemed a sacred space for Eastern populations and symbol of luxury and prestige in the West, the carpet is a combined point of creativity and conceptual depth. Designer Loredana Longo explores this idea further in the 'Burnt Carpet' series for Seletti, where phrases from world leaders of the past and present are seared into the surface using heat and fire. On the multicolored 'Burnt Carpet, Diversity', the quote from Patrick Henry — 'Diversity is our strength' — is emblazoned across the surface for a lasting impact and moment of reflection.
