The bookcase combines functionality with its three-level rotating design, featuring a central column crafted from birch plywood with Canaletto walnut veneer. Its intermediate shelves include solid walnut grooves that house 21 dividing panels across seven sections per level, while the rotating top surface offers upholstered leather finishing. The freestanding structure provides versatile storage solutions with its swivel mechanism, and the black painted steel base ensures stable support for the multi-tiered design.
First produced in 1963 as 'Modello 823', the 'Turner' bookcase is the brainchild of Gianfranco Frattini (1926-2004), a legendary architect and designer who was a leading figure during the golden era of Italian design. Inspired by classic English freestanding bookcases, 'Turner' is a cutting edge design that may be customised to preference for a wholly personal adaptation. Reissued by Poltrona Frau, the freestanding swivel bookcase is now modernised with new materials that ensure stability and sophistication in equal doses while remaining faithful to Frattini's original vision. The result is a three level structure built on a central column made from birch plywood panels with a Canaletto walnut veneer. Intermediate shelves with solid Canaletto walnut grooves house 21 dividing panels, seven for each level, while a kit of three additional panels can be purchased separately to further supplement the bookcase. The unit is crowned with a rotating surface upholstered in Pelle Frau® Saddle Executive leather in 'Ink', and bookended with a black painted steel base. The Poltrona Frau logo and Frattini's laser-engraved signature can be found centre of the column underneath the top.
