Lounge Chair with Headrest - Umber, Wool

The lounge chair combines comfort and support with its sculptural design and optional headrest feature. Its FSC-certified solid wood construction ensures stability and durability, while the soft umber woollen fabric creates an inviting seating experience. The chair's supportive curves and geometric upholstery provide both visual appeal and ergonomic comfort.

Celebrating 70 years of iconic design, the Carl Hansen & Son CH78 Mama Bear Chair is a timeless masterpiece originally introduced in 1954. Designed by Hans J. Wegner as a lighter alternative to the bulky lounge chairs of the era, this chair merges elegance and comfort in perfect harmony. To mark its anniversary in 2024, a new poetic upholstery palette has been unveiled, featuring the rich Umber tone, a soft, woollen fabric inspired by Wegner’s early watercolour sketches and the warm, earthy shades of nature. The geometric shapes of the upholstery and the chair''s softly supportive curves make it a design that both captivates and comforts, offering a cosy embrace. Crafted from FSC-certified solid wood, the CH78 Mama Bear Chair is as durable as it is beautiful. Its sculptural silhouette is designed for stability and comfort, with optional features like a headrest for added relaxation. Wegner’s genius lies in his ability to balance form and function, drawing on his background as a cabinetmaker to create pieces that honour both craftsmanship and the natural qualities of the materials used. The CH78 embodies the essence of Danish Modern design, blending formalistic minimalism with a softness that makes it inviting for everyday use. With its 70th-anniversary edition, this iconic chair continues to be a cherished statement piece in any interior, marrying history, craftsmanship, and modern comfort.
