The Met x Eichholtz Papyrus Coffee Table features a sculptural base inspired by an ancient Egyptian column capital from The Metropolitan Museum of Art, reinterpreted with a warm oak veneer finish. Its open-grain veneer surface brings natural texture and warmth, while the organically curved base draws from the botanical symmetry of historic composite capitals. The sculpted silhouette balances structured form with flowing curves, complementing the matching Papyrus dining table in design language. Dimensions: W100 x H45 cm (approx.).
The Met x Eichholtz presents the Coffee Table Papyrus, elegant in scale and sculptural in form, making a refined statement in any living space. Finished in rich warm oak veneer with a beautifully open grain, Its design reflects the same sculptural style as the matching dining table. The sculpted base is inspired by a historic column capital from The Metropolitan Museum of Art, reinterpreted with contemporary finesse. Its balanced proportions and organic curves bring structure and warmth to a curated interior. HISTORIC PROVENANCE The Coffee Table Papyrus takes its name and design inspiration from a capital bearing a papyrus motif that once crowned the column of a kiosk built in front of the temple of Amun at Hibis in Egypt's Kharga Oasis. Dating to 380-343 BCE, the original column at The Metropolitan Museum of Art combines stylized representations of the common papyrus with foxtail flatsedge plantsâ€â€an early example of the so-called composite capitals that unite decorative botanical forms into one cohesive design. Eichholtz honors this legacy by translating the Egyptian capital's rhythm and symmetry into the sculptural base of this modern table.Dimensions: 39.37" | H. 17.72"Click here to view Item Specification Sheet
