The Edgar Round Side Table features a sunburst marquetry top crafted from satin eucalyptus and burl wood veneers, drawing on American Empire furniture traditions. Its turned pedestal rises from a swept tripod base, referencing the classical forms of Federal-era craftsmanship. The entire piece is finished in durable PU lacquer, which protects the veneer surface while preserving the natural grain and patterning of the wood. Dimensions: W70 x H64 cm.
Introducing The Met x Eichholtz Edgar Side Table, a reimagining of American Empire furniture. The striking sunburst marquetry top, rendered in burl wood veneers, and the turned pedestal and swept tripod base pay homage to the classical forms that defined Federal-era craftsmanship. Finished throughout in durable PU lacquer, the piece makes itself at home in any curated living space. INSPIRATION The Edgar Side Table was inspired by a center table in The Met collection, created by Philadelphia-based craftsman Anthony G. Quervelle (French, 1789–1856). Paris-born Quervelle was a distinguished creator of Empire-style furniture, a design movement that originated in France during the reign of Napoleon I.. This center table, made around 1830, is among the rare documented works from the craftsman's prolific output.Specifications: General info : Satin eucalyptus veneer | burl wood marquetryShape : RoundMax Weight Load KG : 30Max Weight Load LBS : 66.14Indoor/outdoor : Indoor use/dry locations onlyDimensions CM: 70 | H. 64 cmCare Instructions: How to care for Wood Veneer Veneer furniture is covered in a thin layer of real hardwood. Veneers are often used in high end furniture pieces and can be more costly than solid wood. Mid 20th century it became especially popular in interiors when teak wood was often used for Danish design furniture. To fully enjoy your wood veneer furniture, please follow a few basic rules: Avoid exposure to direct sunlight and excessive heat or dampness. Be careful not to leave a wet ring on the surface after watering flowers or plants. Don't expose the furniture to scratches from pets or sharp objects. Use coasters and place felt pads under lamp bases and accessories. Cleaning & Maintenance Wood veneer requires gentle care to preserve the finish. Dust regularly and clean with a soft dry cloth. Remove spills immediately as moisture can cause the veneer to peel off the surface. Prevent moisture from getting underneath the veneer by quickly and thoroughly cleaning up any spills. In case of water rings, rub the area with naphtha. Follow up with an application of oil or petroleum jelly to completely erase the mark.
