The Modular Imagination Triple Connecting Element by Virgil Abloh for Cassina locks three block modules together, enabling a range of configurable table, stool, and seating arrangements. Cast in orange aluminium, the connector clicks into designated sockets on each module, allowing components to join on top or alongside one another for bespoke setups. Its bas-relief round logo and embossed #AblohCassina hashtag serve as a permanent mark of the collaboration between Abloh and the Italian manufacturer. The triple-point connection provides greater structural flexibility compared to single or double variants, supporting more complex multi-directional configurations.
Conceived just a year before Virgil Abloh's death in 2021, 'Modular Imagination' is a collaborative project between the American fashion designer and Italian brand Cassina that stylishly explores modularity. Comprising a series of components that span base units and connecting elements, the project invites users to fully participate in the arrangement of the furniture blocks by choosing how they may be configured depending on one's own needs and habits. This triple connecting element is used to lock the collection's block modules together to create a variety of bespoke setups that celebrate of function, versatility and intuition. When clicked into place in their respective 'sockets' on the modules, the orange aluminum connector facilitates the creation of tables, stools or even seats, allowing other components to connect on top or alongside each other. Marked with a round logo in bas-relief as well as the hashtag #AblohCassina for a permanent seal of this special and singular collaboration, this piece is part of a larger testament to Abloh's innovative contributions to contemporary design.
