The 40cm straight empire gathered lampshade features hand block-printed cotton fabric, produced using traditional wooden printing blocks in Jaipur, India. Its gathered construction creates a subtly textured fern pattern across the surface, with the grey tones lending a restrained, understated effect. The block-printing process gives each shade a degree of individual character inherent to handcrafted production.
This fabulous fabric is hand blocked for us in Jaipur, India, in what is the most inspiring workshop - we played for days with literally hundreds of wooden printing blocks - this is one result from then. These grey ferns, when gathered in a shade, produce a very subtle and effective look.
