The empire lampshade combines the natural iridescence of dupion silk with a compact 16cm form, producing a colour that shifts between a mild pink and a deeper rose depending on the angle of light. Dupion silk is woven from two distinct threads — the warp and the weft — which creates its characteristic lustre and subtle colour variation. Naturally occurring slubs, where silk yarn twists slightly thicker, are present throughout the fabric as an inherent characteristic of this organic fibre.
