The La Cintura di Orione saucepan was designed by Richard Sapper in close consultation with chef Alain Chapel, who selected its size, proportions and wall angle for easy handling. Its copper body conducts heat evenly and responds quickly to temperature changes, ideal for delicate sauces such as bearnaise, while a stainless steel lining protects the interior. The sloping walls allow spatulas and whisks to stir contents thoroughly, and the polished copper and stainless steel finish offers a distinctive deep orange sheen. Beyond sauces, it is suited to pureeing and sautéing.
La Cintura di Orione is a unique cookware set that combines the undisputed design mastery of Richard Sapper and the expertise of culinary celebrities from France and Italy. Alain Chapel, the Troisgros family, Raymond Thuilier, Roger Verge, Gualtiero Marchesi and Angelo Paracucchi are all chefs, gourmets and culinary authorities with whom Richard Sapper consulted on the optimum shape, dimensions and materials for the cookware. The result of the collaboration between culinary and design masters is an extremely elegant and practical dinnerware set with compelling aesthetic qualities. Some of the crockery is made from a uniquely beautiful combination of polished copper and stainless steel, which mesmerises by impressing with its deep orange sheen. The saucepan for preparing sauces was designed by Richard Sapper in close consultation with Alain Chapel. The master chef himself selected the size, proportions and angle of the vessel's walls to make working with the saucepan as easy as possible. The fact that it is made of copper, a metal that conducts heat very well, is of particular importance for a saucepan designed for the preparation of sometimes extremely delicate sauces (e.g. bearnaise sauce). The even heating of the contents of the saucepan and the ability to change the temperature of the contents precisely and quickly helps when handling delicate ingredients (eggs, butter and cream). Naturally, the inside of the saucepan is coated with a layer of stainless steel. The sloping walls of the saucepan facilitate the use of spatulas and whisks to stir the contents frequently. In addition to the preparation of sauces, the saucepan proves useful for pureeing and sautéing.
