We all know the unwritten rule: a buttered slice of toast always lands butter-side down. This principle also seems to dictate that whenever we scoop butter or jam onto a knife, the slippery surface of the accessory ensures it ends up on a freshly laid white tablecloth, or at best, on the kitchen counter. It was precisely this situation that inspired the designer of the Air spreading knife to create an accessory that would defy gravity and the curse of a slippery butter dish. The Air knife – available in versions made from natural pear wood or polished stainless steel (or with a PVD coating in a brass color) and in two sizes – has been so perfectly balanced and contoured that there's no need to rest it on the edge of a butter dish, a jar rim, or a saucer. The appropriately weighted and shaped handle with a wide, flat base, on which the knife rests, keeps the beautifully profiled blade elevated, preventing slippery situations and unforeseen accidents.
