The Ku 2013 coffee cup offers a minimalist silhouette with rounded lines and a funnel-shaped form, echoing the design language of the entire collection. Its only decorative accent is a delicate yet relatively large ear that extends from the rim nearly to the base. The collection was refreshed with subtly reshaped elements and a revised porcelain, providing a lighter, more refined presentation. Originally designed by Toyo Ito in 2006, the series was recognised with the Pritzker Prize in 2013.
Ku is a dinnerware series first designed by Toyo Ito in 2006. Characterised by delicate, funnel-shaped lines, the tableware is a minimalist proposal whose extraordinary elegance was rewarded in 2013 by awarding the designer the prestigious Pritzker Prize (a kind of Nobel Prize of design). Following the ever-changing trends, both in the sphere of lifestyle and interior design, the Alessi brand, in collaboration with the designer, decided to refresh the collection presented here, gently changing the shapes of some elements and the type of porcelain used. The delicate restyling turned out to be most successful, thanks to which the Ku collection returns to the Alessi 2013 catalogue in a new, even more attractive outfit. The coffee cup presented here is a simple vessel with rounded lines and a funnel-shaped form, characteristic of the entire collection, whose only decoration, apart from its interesting shape, is a delicate yet relatively large ear, reaching from the rim almost to the very bottom of the vessel.
