The Dressed Tray features a flower-like shape and full-surface decoration in 18/10 stainless steel. Its relief patterns contrast with glossy undecorated areas, creating a balance between ornate detail and clean elegance. Designed by Marcel Wanders as part of the Dressed tableware series, the tray pairs well with classic tableware sets and also contrasts attractively with minimalist crockery. It adds a sculptural accent to the table while serving as a functional serving piece.
The Dressed tableware series is another addition to the Spring/Summer 2011 collection, designed by Marcel Wanders and is part of the Alessi catalogue. Dutch-born Marcel Wanders has made 'new decoration' one of his trademarks, using decoration in unconventional ways and often applying it in unusual places, sometimes completely out of sight of the users. This unusual approach makes interacting with the Dutchman's objects a multi-sensory experience - including the tactile sensibility of the material. The series containing tableware has been named Dressed in reference to the decoration, which, like a beautiful dress, should be designed to best display the contents without being too overbearing. Marcel Wanders' designs are rich and expressive and combine floral motifs with baroque glamour, yet the collection remains elegant and light thanks to the contrast between background and decoration highlighted by the variation between relief and glossy undecorated surfaces. The Dressed collection includes crockery, tea and coffee service, crystal glasses, forged decorated steel cutlery, a tray, saucer, glass and bottle coasters in 18/10 stainless steel. This tray is characterised by its flower-like shape and full-surface decoration. It will go well with both classic tableware sets and as a contrast to minimalist, modern crockery.
