The updated edition builds on the 2008 XXL monograph, extending coverage to 2022 with imagery personally selected by the architect.

Spanning the years 1981-2022, this nearly 800-page volume is authored by both Nouvel and Philip Jodidio, and is the most comprehensive overview of the architect's work to date, spanning his first projects, career milestones and acclaimed designs. These include the Arab World Institute in Paris, the Serpentine Gallery Pavilion in London and in progress builds, such as the Sharaan Desert Resort in the Al-'Ula desert in Saudi Arabia, all of which are accompanied by imagery selected by the architect himself.
