The Trelliage Wallpaper combines two naturalistic nineteenth century archive patterns into a single layered design. A flowering trellis structure with undulating branches forms the base, while exquisitely detailed Victorian botanical illustrations are interspersed throughout the trellis framework. The result is a design described by Giles Deacon as 'classicism recontextualised', blending architectural repeat with organic botanical detail in a pink colourway.
Trelliage has been created by combining two naturalistic nineteenth century patterns held in Sanderson's archive. A flowering trellis design with undulating branches and flowers provides a classic structure. Then, a selection of exquisitely detailed Victorian botanical representations from another design in the archive were interspersed within the trellis pattern, giving way to a design that is 'classicism recontexturalised' in the words of Giles Deacon.
