The Ruutu vase presents a geometric profile in a muted grey, with its flat surfaces and smooth, fluid form showing the skill of its makers. Each piece is hand-blown into a steel mould and hand-polished over 24 hours, giving the walls a consistent, refined finish. Each Ruutu vase is unique. Blown by hand into a steel mould, the difficult shape of the vase, as well as its intense colours, require great skill on the part of the craftsmen, and the entire production process including hand polishing takes 24 hours. What's more, the creation of one Ruutu vase requires as many as seven craftsmen, whose hard work and craftsmanship are reflected in the extraordinary fluidity of the form and the excellent quality of the flat surfaces. It is therefore no surprise that this design has received such prestigious awards as the Design Award 2015 and the reddot award 2015 in the best of the best category.
