The 'Tropical' vase features a design and colour palette reworked from a 1950s wallpaper source, translated onto a ceramic form with a black background. Five hand-painted shades of green, blue, and yellow are applied both before and after firing to achieve a heightened colour intensity, while a masking technique defines the precise contours of the leaf motifs. The combination of layered application methods produces a lasting contrast between the painted elements and the dark base.
A 1950s wallpaper was the unlikely source of inspiration for Nuove Forme's 'Tropical' vase, which features an extracted and reworked design and colour palette in a nod to the original piece that influenced it. Five hand painted shades of green, blue and yellow amalgamate on the ceramic vase's black background and are applied both before and after firing for a unique intensity, while a masking technique is used for the contours of the leaves. The result is an intense and lasting contrast.
