The vase combines an open mouth silhouette with distinctive checkerboard graffito patterns. Black linear flecks are hand-applied in a checkerboard arrangement, creating decoration that is both sporadic and uniform. The porcelain construction features ceramic chalk crayon patterns that are fired to ensure permanent adhesion.
Conceived by research-based design studio Formafantasma for Cassina, the 'Post Scriptum' collection brings together a series of hand-painted porcelain objects. Inspired by silhouettes found in the extensive Ginori Manufactory archives, the designers have applied a contemporary facelift to a family of familiar shapes in the form of graphic 'graffito' decorations. This is achieved through hand drawing each graffito pattern onto bisque porcelain with ceramic chalk crayons and firing the surface to set the pattern. On this open mouthed vase, the grafitto pattern takes shape as a series of black linear flecks applied in a checkerboard pattern for a surface decoration that is at once sporadic and uniform.
