La Stanza Dello Scirocco Bowl - Black, Steel

The La Stanza dello Scirocco bowl is designed by Sicilian designer Mario Trimarchi, drawing inspiration from the dim, window-less rooms of old Sicilian houses. Its geometric form, built from rectangular pieces of steel, creates a play of light and shadow across its surface. The austere shape offers a striking centrepiece, suited to serving fruit or adding an understated accent to a minimalist living room or dining room.

The La Stanza dello Scirocco product series is the fruit of the work of Sicilian designer Mario Trimarchi. In designing the platters, baskets and bowls in this collection, he was inspired by the magical atmosphere of the rooms in old Sicilian houses, which are used to wait for the hot and dry Scirocco south wind to die down, bringing with it dust clouds of sand from the Sahara. These rooms usually have no windows and often only a single light source. Mario Trimarchi's designs are therefore based on a play of light and shadow, and the form of the vessel presented here recalls the instability and force of erosion resulting from the element. The objects included in the collection have been made from different sized, rectangular pieces of steel, forming the desired forms. The austere, geometric shapes of the bowl presented here catch the eye and spread an abstract, mysterious aura around them. Ideal for serving fruit, the bowl can also become a unique decoration for a minimalist-style living room or dining room, especially since the bowl is available in white and black colour versions and in polished steel.
