Sierra Throw - Soft Mink, Alpaca-Wool Blend

The Sierra Throw combines ultra-soft baby alpaca and wool in a basket-weave construction, offering natural warmth with a cosy, lightweight feel. Hand-knotted macrame edges with fringe trimming are finished by local artisans in Peru, adding tactile detail to the border. The alpaca fibre requires fewer chemicals and less energy during processing compared to other animal-derived fibres, making it a lower-impact material choice. The fringe-trimmed edges and soft yarn texture make it well-suited for layering over seating or bedding.

Our Sierra throw is specially created for us in Peru. The design features macrame that's been carefully hand-knotted along the edges with fringe trimming by local female artisans. It's made from a blend of ultra-soft alpaca - which requires significantly less energy and fewer chemicals during the washing process compared to other animal-derived fibres - and wool. Offering natural warmth this cosy layer is great for snuggling under while reading a book.The beautifully soft yarn included in this throw is known as “baby alpaca” though it does not come from baby animals. In fact the name refers to the exceptional fineness of the fibre. It is collected during the normal sheering process and does not harm the animal. Shearing is a standard humane practice carried out once or twice a year by trained handlers.
