The vase features an open mouth design with hand-painted linear grid patterns across its porcelain surface. The graffito decoration creates an imperfectly uniform surface treatment that adds visual texture and character. Each pattern is hand-drawn with ceramic chalk crayons and fired for lasting durability.
Conceived by research-based design studio Formafantasma for Cassina, the 'Post Scriptum' collection brings together a series of hand-painted porcelain objects. Inspired by silhouettes found in the extensive Ginori Manufactory archives, the designers have applied a contemporary facelift to a family of familiar shapes in the form of graphic 'graffito' decorations. This is achieved through hand drawing each graffito pattern onto bisque porcelain with ceramic chalk crayons and firing the surface to set the pattern. On this open mouthed vase, the grafitto pattern takes shape as a linear grid pattern for a surface decoration that is imperfectly uniform.
