Common sizes are 6 × 4 in, 7 × 5 in, 10 × 8 in, A4 (21 × 29.7 cm) and A3 (29.7 × 42 cm). Frames with a mount are larger than the photograph they hold, so check the aperture size, the visible opening, rather than the frame size. Most prints from photo labs come in the inch sizes.
Mix sizes and orientations, overlap frames slightly and keep to one or two frame finishes so the group looks cohesive. Black-and-white photographs help unite frames of different styles. Lean larger frames at the back and place smaller standing frames in front for depth.
