The empire lampshade is crafted from Dupion silk, a naturally woven fabric produced from two distinct threads — the warp and weft — which gives the material its characteristic iridescent quality. The Peacock colourway shifts between a greenish turquoise and a deeper blue depending on the angle of light, a quality that still photography cannot fully capture. Natural slubs, where silk yarn threads twist together more thickly, are present throughout the weave as an inherent characteristic of the organic fibre. The shade measures 25cm in diameter.
