Further to Cassina's exploration of the furniture of Chandigarh, the 'Kangaroo' chair is added to the brand's 'Hommage à Pierre Jeanneret' collection — a series of items born from research into Le Corbusier's expansive capitol complex project. Balancing modern European ideals and a traditional Indian spirit, the low chair is characterised by a 'Z' shaped profile, the sum of three almost triangular coplanar elements that are linked together. With Indian cane stretched across both the back and seat of the black stained oak chair, 'Kangaroo' is an embodiment of the easy marriage between essential forms and simple materials that has come to define the furniture associated with the project.
