Kangaroo Armchair with Cane Weaving - Black, Oak

The Kangaroo Armchair combines modern European design with traditional Indian craftsmanship through its distinctive Z-shaped profile. Featuring three triangular coplanar elements linked together, the chair offers a unique geometric silhouette that provides both visual interest and structural support. The black stained oak frame contrasts beautifully with the Indian cane weaving stretched across both the back and seat, creating a comfortable seating surface with natural flexibility. This low-profile chair demonstrates the harmonious blend of essential forms and simple materials.

Further to Cassina's exploration of the furniture of Chandigarh, the 'Kangaroo' chair is added to the brand's 'Hommage à Pierre Jeanneret' collection — a series of items born from research into Le Corbusier's expansive capitol complex project. Balancing modern European ideals and a traditional Indian spirit, the low chair is characterised by a 'Z' shaped profile, the sum of three almost triangular coplanar elements that are linked together. With Indian cane stretched across both the back and seat of the black stained oak chair, 'Kangaroo' is an embodiment of the easy marriage between essential forms and simple materials that has come to define the furniture associated with the project.
