The bowl offers artisanal craftsmanship with its hand-thrown stoneware construction, featuring textural effects inspired by three-dimensional art. Its slip clay covering provides natural appearance, while layers of ochre, brick red and brown pigments create a soothing wash over the grey base. The manual potter's wheel technique ensures unique character in each piece, and the stoneware material adds durability for serving use.
Created by Simona Cremascoli in homage to the three-dimensional and textural effects of the works of Alberto Burri, Poltrona Frau's 'Cretto' bowls explore the expressive power of stoneware. Crafted manually at the potter’s wheel in an Umbrian workshop, the bowls are encased in slip — a clay cover that provides each item with its alluring and natural appearance. Following this, layers of pigment in the shades of ochre, brick red and brown are applied onto a grey base for a soothing wash that is completed with a hand applied Poltrona Frau ink logo.
