The sculptural stool offers contemporary design with its bent plywood construction, featuring two mirrored elements that create a unique platform. Its lacquered maple finish provides durability, while the brass support bar fitted inside the base ensures solid structure. The swooping curves suit versatile seating needs, and the dual-screw system keeps the top securely locked together.
Designed by Sori Yanagi, the Butterfly develops contemporary techniques of shaping plywood first pioneered by mid-century designers Charles & Ray Eames. This sculptural stool is made of two simple elements that mirror each other's shape to create a unique platform.Made from bent plywood that is lacquered in either light maple or rich palisander, the Butterfly has been formed into a unique series of swoops and flicks that hint towards the organic style of Japanese design. To ensure a solid structure, a supporting brass bar is fitted inside the base while two small screws underneath the seat keep the top locked tightly together.
