Original Product Description:

Designed by Arne Jacobsen in the late 1950s, the Swan first featured in the lobby and reception areas of the Royal Hotel in Copenhagen. The crowning achievement in Jacobsen's architectural career, this grand project gave him the chance to put his theories of total design into practice designing every element of the building including the furniture. To create the unique form of the Swan, Jacobsen combined his own artistic flair with novel approaches to design - sculpting models of the chair in his garage until he had replaced any remnants of straight lines with curves. Turning this original design into a reality while also providing firm support and comfort is a polyurethane foam shell with glass fibre reinforcement.Upholstered in beautifully smooth walnut leather, the panelled upholstery of this chair moulds to its curving lines. The sharp lines of the mid-century style four-point moulded aluminium base support the structure, while tubular centre enables a full 360-degree rotation.
