Our Foundry Candle Holder has a slightly industrial feel with its Verdigris-style finish. This, combined with the glass shade, brings to mind the classic appearance of the revolutionary street lighting of the Georgian period. The metal base is sand casted; this is an interesting process that involves incorporating the design pattern into sand, then filling the cavity left behind with molten metal which is left to cool before the sand mould is removed. The piece is then finished with hand tools, before being given a patina finish to achieve the Verdigris effect. The glass shade is mouth blown, which means the thickness of each piece will vary. Due to its shade, this piece can be used outside, as it will shield the flame from the wind.
