Murano glass shade: hanging lamp Futura - made in ItalyThe starting point for the design of this series of lamps was the cafeteria of the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice. Namely, a new lighting system was to be installed there. The design of the luminaires was entrusted to Hangar Design Group, which designed a luminaire specifically for this purpose. The "Peggy" model was then developed into the "Futura" model, which is now mass-produced, but still made by hand. In terms of form, Futura is particularly convincing due to its consistently round shape. Material-wise, the mouth-blown Murano glass is to be emphasized. The glass luminaire body looks as if it consists of two parts due to the different coloration - opal white glossy at the bottom, clear at the top. But this is not the case; it is made in one piece. This is made possible by a special glass blowing technique. The dichotomy of the glass shade is also emphasized by the metal band that is placed around the center.
