Original Product Description:

Dark Flechtwerk pendant light with spherical lampshade made using a 3D printer Spherical lampshades are no longer rare in the world of pendant lights. Yet the Flechtwerk pendant light stands apart from other lights of its ilk. This is largely due to the fact that the German-designed and German-made spherical lampshade on Flechtwerk is produced using a 3D printer. This allows for innovative designs and shapes that wouldn't otherwise be possible. Flechtwerk is reminiscent of a chessboard; this is largely owed to the fact that the pattern features alternating dark and light sections in a fixed pattern. In this instance, however, the light sections are created by the missing sections from the lampshade. This chessboard effect is further enhanced when the light is switched on, as it is projected across the room onto so-called projection surfaces, where you can marvel at the wonderful interplay between light and shade. This designer pendant light is, however, distinguished by more than just its looks: It boasts special production features that are largely shaped by its sustainability. The lampshade is made using biomaterial. This material is made solely from renewable raw materials and does not contain any toxic chemicals or mineral oils. On the other hand, the lampshade is “zero waste”. 3D printing makes it possible to produce items without an offcuts and thus no waste. Furthermore, green electricity is used to power production, and the German-based design team also produce the lampshades using zero emissions.
