Original Product Description:

Wondrous Poppy wall lamp - a flower in bloomWhen the sun sets and nature is shrouded in darkness, flowers also close their blossoms, for there is no longer any light to guide them. But a single flower opens its blossoms instead of closing them as soon as artificial light takes over the sun's task of providing brightness. Although it is not a living plant we are talking about here, it comes very close to a real flower. We are talking about the Poppy wall lamp, a floral lighting object created by the designer trio Ulrich Beckert, Georg Soanca-Pollak and Peter Thammer, which completely reinterprets lighting and its effects. When the wall lamp is switched on, a very special spectacle can be observed. The filigree petals, which are attached to the two mouth-blown glass capsules, unfold within a very short time and release the light that has begun to glow inside the glass. The heat of the illuminant exerts a special effect on the filigree metal lamellae. For it is not just any metal that has been used here, but a heat-sensitive bimetal that has the property of expanding under the influence of heat. And so Poppy makes use of this physical effect and opens her calyxes as soon as the light is switched on. In addition, the two flexible arms covered with textile make the wall lamp an extremely mobile light source that can take on a different shape at any time. Thus, there are always new possibilities for the design of the wall lamp and it shows itself to be changeable and individual like hardly any other lighting object.
