Original Product Description:
Lisa Larson''s Birds 1967, resurrected by Design House Stockholm, are a testament to the vibrant creativity of the late ''60s. These charming birds, almost forgotten among the many gems by the celebrated Swedish ceramicist, have been brought back to life, capturing the essence of a time marked by anti-war protests and a blooming hippie culture. Each bird, painted with strong colours and exotic patterns inspired by Mexican folk art, reflects the spirit of individualism and freedom of expression that defined the era. Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, these birds are not just decorative pieces but symbols of a vividly inspired time. During her stay in Sausalito near San Francisco in 1967, Lisa Larson studied ceramics under Peter Voulkos at Berkeley and encountered a world of vibrant colours and patterns. She brought back gouache colours in shades that were impossible to find in Sweden at the time. With the help of a retired carpenter who turned out the shapes in wood, Larson painted each bird herself, creating a unique and personal collection. The Birds 1967 are a beautiful blend of traditional craftsmanship and artistic expression, making them a desirable addition to any home decor.
