This 1950 design combines durability with ergonomic support, while the rod base structure ensures stability during use. The reinforced plastic seat provides lasting comfort, and the wooden runners deliver smooth rocking movement.
In amongst Charles and Ray Eames' iconic 'Plastic Chairs' family, the 'Rocking Armchair Rod Base' (RAR) stands out the most. A fibreglass-reinforced plastic seat is mounted on wooden runners for an even more comfortable version of the iconic chair. Designed in 1950 and presented at New York's Museum of Modern Art competition, 'Low Cost Furniture Design', the chair adds a self-assured accent to any environment.
