The Ball Body vase combines artisanal craftsmanship with striking visual appeal through its mouth-blown glass construction. Its bulbous form features distinctive surface cracks created by plunging the hot glass into ice water, then reheating to strengthen the structure. The small size works well for single stems or small arrangements, while the rich purple finish adds drama to any display. The unique cracking technique, drawn from traditional Chinese methods, ensures each piece has individual character.
Produced via a process that sees glass fully mouth-blown into a wooden mold, Polspotten's 'Ball Body' vases presents a compelling vision. Delicate and strong at once, the bulbous vessel is defined by a series of cracks along its surface, the result of the vase being plunged into ice cold water immediately after being blown, then placed again into an oven to cement its strength in a technique drawn from a Chinese craftsman. The result is a family of colorful pieces that includes this small purple vase that can be displayed empty or filled with blooms for equal impact.
