The Rectangular Vase features geometric design created through latex masking techniques. Its monochromatic optical pattern requires three stages of firing to achieve the final form, with separate black and white detailing layers. The vessel combines 1960s-inspired aesthetics with complex ceramic craftsmanship.
The monochromatic optical designs popular in the 1960s were the source of inspiration for Nuove Forme's rectangular vase, in which a geometric design is created through latex masking. Three stages of firing are required for the vessel to take its final shape — the first to solidify the fresh earth poured into a plaster mould, then twice again for both the black and white layers of detailing.
