The Basilius Besler facsimile edition reproduces the 367 hand-colored botanical plates of the Hortus Eystettensis, originally published in 1613 to document the palatial gardens of Eichstätt, Bavaria. Each plate is accompanied by authoritative texts and a present-day botanical classification, preserving the scholarly depth of the original florilegium. The hand-colored illustrations represent a landmark in botanical documentation, capturing the detailed draughtsmanship characteristic of early 17th-century horticultural records.
