The Proust Chair offers baroque romance with its distinctive pointillism-inspired dotted pattern, reimagined from Alessandro Mendini's 1978 design. Its rotational-moulded polyethylene construction provides weatherproof durability, while the hand-painted aesthetic adds artistic character. The chair suits both indoor and outdoor environments, and the robust frame ensures lasting performance in any setting.
Based on Alessandro Mendini's 'Poltrona di Proust' chair, designed in 1978, Magis' 2011 'Proust' chair is the same designer's contemporary update on the original. The first incarnation of the seat, which is characterised by continuous hand painted multi-coloured dots applied using the pointillism technique, is relived in this industrial rotational-moulded piece, where weatherproof polyethylene is shaped into a romantic, baroque chair that is suited to both indoor and outdoor use.
